Say What! | Writing Prompt

Hi everybody,

ohIt’s been a somewhat busier week than usual. That, and a somewhat weightier week in terms of mental and emotional…stuff. I wanted to write something a little more reflective of my days on Sunday, but sometimes I guess one needs more time to process and sit with the thoughts and feelings that, as my son might say, are “dump-trucked” into one’s life. So I reblogged a very ingenious post by a young woman named Melinda, about writing and roaming, about mobile poetry. I hope you enjoyed it!

And today, I’m offering a writing prompt, based on my feelings of backlog. Weird? Maybe. Just go with it, and see where it takes you!

Prompt: Write a 10 line poem that describes what it means (to you) to take two steps forward and one step back.

If you do it, tell me about it! I’d love to read your work, or hear about your particular prompted writing process!

  1. I follow the stars
    moving to the rhythm
    one two, cha-cha-cha
    Around the constellation
    of my mind –
    I can’t stop
    three four, cha-cha-cha
    Night turns to morning
    and I’m still dancing
    cha-cha-cha.
