The Queue

reading resHow many of you guys are on Goodreads? I’ve had an account for about 8 years, but log on infrequently. I am, though, logged in  more often than my activity would suggest, because I like to get book recs there and check out what everybody else is reading. I just rarely post book progress or reviews.

Last year, I wanted to be more involved, so I joined a book club. That failed miserably. I read exactly ONE book for that group, and disliked it. I guess when it comes to reading, I don’t play well with others. Maybe I just like to pick out my own books.

This year, I’m trying again. But I’m not going to join a book club. I’ll do what I’ve always done, just…more of it (I hope). I’ll log in to get book recommendations and to see what YOU are reading. That is, if you’ll join me?

HERE‘s my profile. If you friend-req me, post a little note to say you follow on Buffalo Elliot. Let’s compare reading queues!!

Or, if social platforms like Goodreads aren’t your jam, just cut to the chase and tell me what you’re favorite reads are here! I’m always interested in what others have read and loved!

  1. I have a love/hate relationship with Goodreads and rarely update my queue. But I do have a stack of books I’m eager to dip into in the next few months: Angle of Repose (Stegner), thinking of rereading The Light Years (Salter), and Anna Karenina. And yes, it’s January and I’m feeling ambitious!

  2. I’ve had Anna Karenina on my list too…for about five years! The Russian classics sort of…hate me. I’ve tried three times to finish Crime and Punishment, for instance. Can’t. I always get to the part where that guy murders the old lady and then I’m done. BUT, that’s no excuse!
